Shots were fired by police officers Friday night while responding to a sexual assault case in San Bernardino, according to law enforcement.
Officers were called to the 2000 block of Jubilee Court on Friday at about 11:30 p.m. for a report of a sexual assault against a minor, according to the San Bernardino Police Department. There, the suspect in the case armed himself with a knife, leading to officers opening fire.
The police department did not say if the armed man lunged at officers with the knife. It’s unclear if he was struck by gunfire.
One officer was hurt during the confrontation, according to San Bernardino police. The department did not specify how he was hurt, but did say he was treated at a nearby hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
